Our MissionThe Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society (LVFMS), is a grass-roots organization based in the Allentown area, registered as a non-profit entity in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The purpose of the Society is to "promote the cultivation, preservation and enjoyment of the world's folk music heritage without exception to culture, race and creed amongst the people of all ages within communities in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and surrounding regions". Throughout the year, the Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society, presents dozens of events for the cultural enrichment of folks in eastern Pennsylvania with local musicians as well as invited artists from other areas. In addition, through its affiliation with the Lehigh Valley Arts Council, the LVFMS brings folk music into local schools each year through various interactive educational programs.
The Society is governed under an operating set of by-laws and all business and affairs are directed by an elected Executive Board of Officers. Meetings of the Board are held annually to review the financial status of the organization and to implement an operating plan for the upcoming year.

Our MembersThe LVFMS is volunteer-driven, and our work depends on our members and supporters within our local community. We are always interested in hearing from and welcome folk music supporters who want to play an active role in the Society's future. If you like to play sing or listen to folk music, then the LVFMS should be your organization. The Society is led by its 5-member Board of Directors, made up of volunteers who share in managing all of the Society activities and who ensure that the Society continues to be financially secure, and meets all government and music industry requirements. Several volunteers maintain a Facebook page and an internet-based web-site (www.lvfms.org) and prepare graphic designs and promotional literature to advertise the happenings of the organization. Volunteers of the Society host monthly jam sessions and perform folk music concerts throughout the year.
Our HistoryThe Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society (LVFMS) was formed in 1994 by several local folk musicians living in the Allentown area of the Lehigh Valley who wanted to provide a means of bringing together other folk musicians in the area. Over the 20 years since we were founded, the LVFMS has sponsored concerts, singer/songwriter showcases, tributes, monthly jam sessions, children educational activities, folk music recordings and a performing band which has entertained audiences of all ages at hundreds of venues throughout the Lehigh Valley - from senior citizen groups and rest homes, general family audiences and children at arts and historical festivals and many different special events since 1996. LVFMS is known for its eclectic approach to folk music and excellence in programming, and for the passion of its volunteer leaders.
