Welcome Folk Music Lovers!

"American music must dedicate itself to the people, and go among the people, otherwise it cannot exist"...

Our Mission

The Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society (LVFMS), based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is a registered non-profit organization formed by local folk musicians in 1994 and dedicated to fostering the promotion and preservation of folk music through participation, performance and educational events.

Our Performing Group

The LVFMS sponsors a group that raises funds for the Society via public and private performances. The performing group exhibits an eclectic blend of old-time, classic and original folk music for all sorts of events in the Lehigh Valley year round. We perform for seniors at rest homes, private parties and for audiences of all ages at local festivals. Our band's most recent appearance (pictured right) was Martin on the Main in Nazareth, Pa. CONTACT us to book the band for your special event. We have many open dates for 2018.

Folk Jams and Sing-Alongs

The Society sponsors monthly jams for musicians and singers of all experience levels giving them an opportunity to play and sing their favorite folk songs with others. This "free" event is open to the public and always held the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 10:00 pm at the Lehigh Valley Active Life Center located at 1633 W. Elm Street in Allentown. All ages and skill levels are welcome to join us to sing, play or listen. Jam books with chords and lyrics are provided. See the JAMS link for more detail.

Pennsylvania Music and Arts Celebration

The Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society sponsored a Folk Music Stage at the 1st Annual Celebration of the Pa. Music Preservation Society held over the 2018 Memorial Day Weekend. Nine distinguished folk artists/bands from our area joined the LVFMS Performing Group to present a showcase of folk music that represented the diverse cultural heritage of our Pennsylvania music traditions.

LVFMS Recordings

The Society has recorded three entertaining CD compilations of traditional folk, gospel and original folk music which are available for sale to the public. The proceeds provide funds for the Society.
